I don't think we are in Kansas anymore

I finally changed the name of my blog (the one I have neglected for ~4 years) from the thekcbenjamins to itsallaboutmybenjamins. Probably better moving forward as you never know where you will find us! We arrived in New Hampshire last January and are just about to celebrate a year with having lived here.

We miss Kansas, primarily our family and friends, always our cul-de-sac and sunny house, and the sidewalks and being close to everything. But with this moves brings a whole new dynamic with Jonathan being home, and really present in everything we do. So, although I love the wildlife and the privacy our yard has, the view out my kitchen sink window, being so close to skiing, beach and Boston the BEST thing about being here is being together.  Everyone benefits and this was one of the best decisions we have made for our family.

So for now, New Hampshire is where you will find us - all of us together. And as a bonus, it sure is pretty here in the fall!

Do you read/look at me?

Well, I have been away from my PC and the ability to download photos for about 7+ months. Does anyone look at me? If so, I will continue to update every once in a while. :)

Anna & Paul (and baby Thomas) come to town

On Saturday morning (8/14) we had professional photos taken over at Jono's parents house of the whole family. The only one that never cracked a smile was Drew - thankfully, he is pretty cute anyway. That same evening, we had everyone over for dinner and feed the kids, put the little ones to sleep and the big ones watched a movie. But, before that - Jono took the kids on a mean LCR game which they all loved playing.

Ryan was the big winner - Ethan did NOT like that at all and burst into tears and stomped upstairs. He is not a good loser, so Poppy had to go up and set him straight.

On Sunday, Thomas was baptized in a really nice service. Unfortunately, Jono was taking video so I was minding kids so this is the only photo I got and Drew pushed my hand as I took it so I cut off Anna and Thomas. He wore Drew's baptismal outfit...and looked equally as cute as Drew did on his day.

Jono's Birthday

Every year for the past few years, I plan a surprise activity on Jonathan's birthday. I really wanted to involve the kids as he has been traveling so much, so my idea to do the Boulevard Brewing House tour with kids was probably not all that well thought out. But, alas, we went to Ponack's for lunch with is one of Jonathan's favs and then did the tour. I think we might have to do a repeat without kids but Jonathan did figure out that he likes the Boulevard Stout - so I guess that is something. Better planning for next year...

Brothers - August 2010

yes, they look pretty sweet and innocent here - but what you miss is likely Ethan knocking his brother off the shared seat and Drew throwing a temper tantrum. But, I do love that they both always have a playmate because they are so close in age.

St. Louis

Our first family trip since Christmas, we had been avoiding due to the dreaded 12-18 month old. But, Drew is 19 months today - so we decided to give a weekend trip a whirl and headed to St. Louis on July 23rd. It was SWELTERING this past weekend in St. Louis, I think Friday was 102 and super humid. But, the kids did great and Ethan walked everywhere that we did and still had energy to boot.
Our first stop was to take the Metro because it was hot and the boys love trains. So we went over to Union Station (which is not much to see these days) but the kids did enjoy feeding the goldfish in the little pond and Jono so patiently gave out one little nibble each time for Drew to dump into the water.First stop on Saturday morning, well the Arch of course. Ethan thought the ride up was fantastic and the boys enjoyed peering out into St. Louis.Next stop was the City Museum which is the neatest place I have ever been for kids. Drew was not sure about the ball pit but they both loved the train ride.
On Sunday, we ate and then headed to the zoo. Such a nice zoo and free too. We of course had to do the train, which both kids enjoyed. It stopped right in front of the tigers and we had a great view which was my favorite thing we saw all day.

It was a good trip, and gave us a clue what our vacation in October for 5 nights will look like. Those boys do have a lot of energy though.....

My Birthday

My 35th birthday...Jono was traveling so I was blessed with an evening with the remaining Benjamin Leawood clan. Of course, I had lots of help blowing out candles and eating the cake too.
