The Proposal....

December - 2003

Jonathan asked my Dad's permission when my family was out at Thanksgiving. It was a good thing too, as my sister informed that JB was going to get the "what is your intention with my daughter speech" - which thankfully never happend. The proposal happened at an Irish pub in Stamford, CT (Tigin) which just happens to be where we met. The Irish pub is not all that romantic, and Jonathan did tell my Dad where he was going to do it and Dad didn't object - but seriously, I think he just wanted the free beers. I remember him getting down on one knee and pulling out a box, but the rest is a blur. Jonathan will tell you that I repeated "oh my God" several times and then plucked the ring out and onto my finger before he was done with the proposal. I think I even forgot to say "yes".

We then drove into NYC, where he had the nice romantic evening planned. I loved it though and I have great fun in telling people it went down in a bar.

Thanksgiving is to be thankful for...

November - 2003
My family coming to Boston this year. They all made the trek from Palm Springs to enjoy the New England weather. We had a blast, great food, lots of laughs and I think that Ty learned how to climb up stairs. I would also say that the husbands (as usual) manage to find some mischief and we never went back to the neighborhood bar they were asked to leave that night!

November - 2003

I remember all of my friends were sure that Jonathan was going to propose on this trip, (he didn't) and I dodged everyone's phone call for a couple of days after returning until they got the hint! It was a good trip though - nice and relaxing, but unfortunately I was having ear problems and Jonathan dove a couple of days without me.

20 Bartlett St. - Charlestown (Boston)

September - 2003 This was our first home, Jonathan would tell you that I hated it...but I really didn't - at least not at first. I will NEVER live with someone on a floor above me and a bedroom window on the street. But, our condo had charm, and I loved the location. I still miss being able to walk most anywhere, the history, and all of the neighborhood dogs. I don't miss the Chinese men going through my trash at 4:00 am on a Friday morning or digging my car out after many inches of snow.

Our furry friends

Anybody who knows us well, knows that we LOVE our dogs. Daisy and Buddy are members of our family and insist on sleeping under the covers of our bed. We got Daisy as a puppy, and adpoted Buddy in July 2006. Buddy has medical conditions that mandate he eat upright, so Jonathan lovingly cut his beer pong table up to build the "Buddy Box".

The bonds that tie us - Friends

These are my girls, some of us have been friends for nearly 20 years (since freshman in HS), and the others are from good ole IU. We still manage to see one another a couple times per year. I miss them all - but they are only an email, text, or phone call away.

Jonathan and Melissa

Ok, this is an old picture -taken about 4 years ago. But, I have always loved it (and who doesn't want to look 4 years younger!). Jonathan had just proposed a few weeks before and we were in FL at his parent's condo with his entire family.

My Family

Or, I guess one could correct that and say "my family before I had my own family". This is a picture from my wedding day, we all look so happy (except for Courtney, who I know is hating her hair) - and it was a wonderful and happy day.

The Beginning

My big sister, Courtney is always asking to see pictures of Ethan and to check out her blog. I decided, if I can't beat 'em, I might as well join 'em. So, welcome my famly to blogging. I will start with a few quick photo's and then go to what everyone cares about - Ethan.
